Professor and Dr. Cuilin Zhang is Professor of Women’s Health at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and founding director of the Global Center for Asian Women’s Health, as well as director of the Population Health Study Program of the Asian Center for Reproductive Longevity and Equity.
Zhang is an adjunct professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Prior to joining NUS, Professor Zhang was a senior research fellow and acting chief of the Epidemiology Section, Division of Population Health Research, NICHD, National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. She also served on the NIH Nutritional Research Task Force writing group for the development of a strategic plan on national nutrition research over the next 10 years (2021-2030) and is a multi-topic expert for the NIH Intramural Subject Matter: Nutrition Across the Lifespan, Foundational Nutrition Science; Approaches, Methods, and Tools for Dietary Intake Assessment.
Professor Zhang is a clinical epidemiologist whose work brings together nutrition, biochemistry, genetics, clinical medicine and public health, focusing on disease etiology and prevention strategies. She directs a multidisciplinary research program focused on improving women’s health. The focus is on nutrition and lifestyle. Zhang received the best director award for understanding etiology and risk factors in gestational diabetes.
Professor Zhang currently serves on the Oversight Advisory Committee of the American Heart Association Research Network, the International Advisory Committee of the Chinese National Birth Cohort, and the Texas Board of Mothers.
She is also editor-in-chief of Maternal & Fetal medicine, (the first English-language journal on maternal and fetal medicine in China, published by the Chinese Medical Association).
