María Pérez Bosch

Maria Pérez obtained her degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Barcelona (UB). In 2014, she received the GEPRONAT Prize for Best Young Researcher, awarded by the Specialized Group of Natural Products Chemistry of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ), where she now serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors. In 2018, she joined UB’s Department of Nutrition, Food Science, and Gastronomy as an Associate Professor through the Serra Hunter Programme. Since then, she has used her extensive expertise in chemistry to advance the field of food science. As a member of the Polyphenol Research Group, Dr. Pérez is currently investigating the impact of various carbon-rich organic fertilizers on the quality of horticultural products and examining how cooking processes affect the food bioactive compounds.
