Sara Cucala
Writer, Journalist and Film Director. Co-owner of A Punto and Director of Pnka Producciones; Madrid, Spain
Graduated in Philology at the University of Oviedo, Journalism at the University Carlos III of Madrid and Film Direction and Screenwriting at the ECAM in Madrid. She has been communicating about gastronomy for more than 20 years in the main Spanish media.
In 2008 she founded the gastronomic bookstore and cooking school, A PUNTO (www.apuntococina.com), from where she has created different projects and concepts related to gastronomic culture.
In 2013 she opened the production company Pnka (www.pnkaproducciones.com) with the commitment to develop audiovisual and film projects created by women; audiovisuals with a strong social commitment; and audiovisual productions where the transmission and filming of gastronomic culture played an important role.
For years she was the gastronomic editor of the newspaper El Mundo, she worked for TVE where she coordinated the culinary contents for the channel’s magazines, among them, the first edition of MasterChef.
She has written several books, some of them internationally awarded. Her latest publications: Wake Up! (Planeta Gastro) and 50 Recetas para Comerse España.
She has scripted and directed several film projects such as La Raspa (short documentary about the cooking project of the NGO Gastronomía Solidaria in which through the kitchen they managed to incorporate into the labor society more than 1000 young people in social exclusion. Selected, among others, at the Malaga Festival; or the documentary film ¿Oído? Ellas, la voz de la gastronomía (selected in SEMINCI and bought by TVE) where she raises the inequality of women in the world of gastronomy.
Currently, she has directed the documentary film Vino y Cultura, runs the online platform A PUNTO, can be read weekly in El País Gastro and listened to on the podcast Archigula.
